How can I treat severe psoriasis with medications?
In disabling cases of psoriasis, doctors prescribe an oral cancer treatment drug, called Methotrexate, to slow down the rapid (re)-production of skin cells. This drug is used only when no other therapy has worked because it can cause liver damage with long-term use. In such cases you can take Methotrexate until your skin is “clean” then apply a mild psoriasis product (see guidelines) to maintain and control flare-ups for an extended period without side effects.
